Born in Stuttgart as the daughter of a pair of pianists, Olivia Trummer initially trained in classical music, but even then she flirted with jazz as a highly present form of spontaneous expression. Under the influence of song monoliths such as Steely Dan’s Donald Fagen, the coordinates of free music, song structure and classical music finally found their own musical language, always turned towards the sublime. Now she adds a 9th album to her versatile discography.With a disarmingly clear, direct and crystal-golden voice, Olivia Trummer invites eleven song chapters far and wide to look at and listen to a story that could be her own. She has called “For You” the storyline, whose narrative appeals to the imagination of the listeners. The title says: make the poetry of this nonchalant combination of music and sung word your own, find your own story in it, because the songs are too .For you. there! Self-grace is a term that serves as a kind of key code for opening the rooms that she invitingly illuminates with her trio and selected soloists. They are spaces of the soul, spaces full of secrets and delicate contradictions. Here, the light and shadow of human existence come together to form a symphony of passions that is formulated without stereotypes.
